Masks Required through September

MAX Updates Mask and Face Covering Policy

Attention valued Modesto Area Express (MAX) and Modesto Area Dial-A-Ride (MADAR) customers:

Transit is one of the critical exceptions to recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), which states that individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 do not have to wear a mask or practice social distancing in public in some circumstances.

Here are some things to note as we continue to stay safe and healthy, regardless of your vaccination status:

  • Masks will still be required on buses, trains, airplanes, and at transportation hubs such as bus stops, rail stations, and airports until September 2021.
  • We require MAX and MADAR passengers to wear masks while waiting for, riding on and disembarking all buses.
  • Passengers without masks will still be able to obtain one from their operator when boarding the bus.

For the safety of our riders, employees and community, anyone who refuses to wear a mask onboard a bus will not be permitted to ride unless it is medically unsafe for them to wear a mask.
